Job Description:
POSITION PURPOSE:
This position is responsible for operating a power brake that
bends, punches, forms, rolls, arcs, or straightens metal sheets,
plates, and bars according to job specifications. The Press Brake
Operator accurately and efficiently completes orders to established
procedures and quality standards.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Operate machines to ensure the highest quality of production is
achieved.
- Perform fabricating operations of sheet metal products according
to specifications.
- Position work manually and align layout marks to dies, including
changing dies as required per order specifications.
- Make adjustments/align per order specifications on machines.
- Inspect work for conformance to job specifications, using rule,
square, or templates.
- Review daily manufacturing functions and job orders to ensure
awareness of requirements.
- Obtain necessary materials and tools required to achieve expected
run rates.
- Ensure the safe operation of equipment.
- Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment
performance, and quality of product.
- Report immediately to supervisor/lead/manager any and all
problems, which may affect safety, equipment, tooling, and/or
quality.
- Maintain full working knowledge of all processes.
- Ensure a clean and organized work environment.
- Conduct himself/herself in a professional manner in accordance
with company guidelines.
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational
skills.
- Tenacity in overcoming obstacles while maintaining productive and
positive working relationships.
- Ability to execute in a rapidly changing fast paced environment
that requires strong team work.
- Understanding of all tools, gages, equipment, and other various
instruments used to perform position.
- Basic ability to understand blue prints, schematics, and
instrumentation diagrams.
- Skill in performing accurate arithmetic functions involving
addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; using
decimals, percentages, fractions, and ratios.
- Basic mechanical principles of machine setups, operations, and
materials.
- General knowledge of sheet metal fabricating and assembly
practices.
- Some knowledge with programming is necessary for operation and
calibration.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Required:
--- Two plus years of experience in a relevant manufacturing
setting.
--- Equivalent of high school diploma or G.E.D. certification.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly
required to sit, stand, and walk throughout the building. The
employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The
employee is required to stand and/or walk for prolonged periods of
time. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel or
crouch.
The employee must regularly lift up to 60 pounds and move up to 100
pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include
close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception,
and ability to adjust focus.
The employee may be required to work with hazardous materials. The
employee may be exposed to hot surfaces, hot air, electrical
hazards, and flames. While performing the duties of this job, the
employee frequently works with moving machinery and occasionally in
outside weather.
