Job Description:
Job Title: Principal UX Researcher Location: Remote, with
occasional travel as needed Client: Optum Duration: Contract to
Hire Job ID: 71484 Project: Supporting UX Research project(s) as a
research lead. Specific work assignment will be determined based on
skill set, but presently there are over nine (9) possible projects
that are funded and awaiting a researcher. Projects may include
Optum Rx Specialty Medication Management or Health Care Company
Claims processing. Location: Remote, but our expectation would be a
conversion at the end of the project, and they must be willing to
travel (COVID allowing) to run any necessary studies that utilize
our research lab in MN. Team Structure: All project teams have a
product owner. Most have associated UX designers, which may or may
not come from UXDS. The researcher will seldom interact with
developers, and will partner with the product owner in setting the
research plan path. Additional stakeholders will vary by project,
and may change frequently. Primary Responsibilities: Design,
conduct, analyze, and report data gathered from qualitative and
quantitative research techniques including key-stroke level
modeling (KLM), usability testing, contextual inquiry / field
studies, surveys, interviews, heuristic evaluations, focus groups,
card sorts, ethnography and persona development, and rapid
iterative testing within an Agile environment. Work with product
teams to identify and prioritize user research requirements,
including timelines, scope, and methodologies. Collaborate with
product teams to identify remediation solutions for issues
identified from research. Evangelize and advocate that user
research principles and best practices be utilized. Collaborate
with product teams to develop research goals, identify tasks and
scenarios, and establish a test environment. Create and deliver
study result reports to all levels of stakeholders within the
organization. Establish research and usability metrics strategies
for project teams. Mentor junior staff assigned to the project and
advise them on ways to execute UX research best practices and
perform reviews of their work for adherence thereto.
Qualifications: Must have a bachelor's degree or equivalent
experience 5-7 years' experience as a usability practitioner 5-7
years' demonstrated experience delivering user research, including
but not limited to developing user personas, conducting field
studies / contextual inquiry, and usability testing Excellent
presentation and interpersonal skills; the ability to communicate
complex concepts clearly and persuasively across different
audiences and varying levels of the organization Proven ability to
deliver research on time while working on multiple projects Strong
organizational skills Excellent leadership and relationship
building skills Attention to detail High level of energy and
customer focus Experience in ethnographic and/or service design
research Experience using a Windows 10 PC Experience working in a
team environment or with an application team Nice to Have
Skills/Attributes: Eye-tracking experience preferred Experience
with Cogulator or similar tool preferred Experience with Nvivo or
similar platform preferred Experience with tools such as UserZoom,
, Optimal Workshop and other industry standard tools preferred
Agile experience preferred Healthcare Industry experience desired
Preference for commercial software experience or enterprise
applications Top Requirements: Familiarity with the research
methodologies Strong grasp of mixed-method research and consumer
behaviors Familiarity with one or more of: ethnographic, data
visualization, and/or service design research methods Ability to
set a research roadmap/timeline Ability to evangelize UX research
benefits and following best practices to stakeholders Ability to
mentor/give direction to junior researchers on the team
