Job Overview:

The Senior Security Engineers are responsible for the implementation, and support of enterprise security solutions that align with the security architecture roadmap and meet business requirements. Security Engineers will develop and implement solutions that protect the availability, confidentiality, and integrity of UNFI systems and data. These solutions include, but are not limited to cyber security operations center technologies and processes, security systems, including IDS/IPS systems, DLP, EDR, PKI, authentication systems, log management, content filtering, etc

The Security Engineers will additionally review, recommend, and implement improvements to security ecosystem to evolve the Information Security program. The Security Engineers will provide consultative services to the technology and business teams to ensure security is integrated into all aspects of the business. The role will additionally develop and maintain processes and procedures to run the day-to-day aspects of the Cyber Security team.

Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Senior Security Engineer

  • Implement and monitor security measures for the protection of enterprise systems, networks and information including lifecycle tracking.
  • Prepare and document standard operating procedures and protocols.
  • Configure and troubleshoot security infrastructure devices and software
  • Develop technical solutions and new security tools to help mitigate security vulnerabilities and automate repeatable tasks
  • Ensure that the company knows as much as possible, as quickly as possible about security incidents
  • Perform data analysis across disparate or divergent datasets.
  • Ensure information security issues are responded to during initial stage of project life cycle.
  • Conducts root cause analysis and communicates outcomes in a clear and consistent manner.
  • Performs security incident investigations as assigned.
  • Performs network packet captures and analyzes traffic for anomalous and/or suspicious activity.
  • Assists in testing of controls and associated remediation for identified deficiencies.
  • Develop custom scripts to facilitate the collection of security event information.
  • 7+ years of experience. (3+ years focused on Cloud)

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in management information systems, computer science, or related discipline is preferred but not required.
  • SANS GCIH or GCFA, CISA, CISM, Security+ certification(s) and preferred but not required.

Skills and Requirements:

  • Advanced knowledge of information systems security concepts and technologies; cloud network architecture; general database concepts; document management; hardware and software troubleshooting; intrusion tools and open source alternatives
  • Advanced knowledge of cloud infrastructure and be able to deploy security solutions into these environments.
  • Comfortable working in cloud Security & Compliance centers and experience with Azure Sentinel or Amazon Security Hub/Control Tower or equivalent desirable.
  • Knowledge and experience with scripting languages, preferably PowerShell and/or Python.
  • Able to configure cloud logging & event workspaces and to script event and remediation actions.
  • Knowledge and experience with Windows, Apple and Linux operating systems
  • Directory/NTLM/Kerberos/MS-domain services/windows firewall/LDAP/PKI
  • Network Security: SIEM's, ETP solutions, Proxy and Web Filtering, Data Loss Prevention Systems, Taps & Spans, Data redirectors, Intrusion detection, and Firewall concepts
  • Knowledge and experience of common internet protocols including but not limited to IP, TCP, UDP, ICMP, FTP, SMTP, SSH, DNS, DHCP, SNMP, HTTP, HTTPS, NTP
  • Experience with Incident Response, security appliances and other security and network technologies

Other Functions:

  • Ability to work extremely well under pressure while maintaining a professional image and approach
  • Exceptional information analysis abilities: ability to perform independent analysis and distill relevant findings and root cause
  • Strong presentation and analytical writing skills to articulate complex ideas clearly and effectively; experience creating and presenting documentation and management reports
  • Team player with proven ability to work effectively with remote team members, other business units, IT management and staff, vendors, and consultants
  • Strong communication skills such as planning and leading effective meetings, conducting structured interviews to collect information, interpersonal and negotiation skills, and presenting to a variety of audiences

Physical Environment

  • Some travel may be required
  • Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment.
  • Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at desk or computer terminal.
  • Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in completion of job duties.
