This individual will act as a strategic thought partner to the executives and will have a business-focused mindset to help translate business objectives to human capital strategies. The individual will have responsibility for clients in multiple geographic locations and partner with the HR leadership team on planning and delivering HR programs and services to the business.Specific responsibilities include:Serve as a strategic business partner to senior leadership focused on a transformational talent agenda designed to attract, develop and retain the best talent in the industryPartner with the business on organizational design, workforce planning, succession planning, and skills assessmentAnalyze business unit data to identify trends and recommend innovative solutions to improve performance, retention, engagement and employee experienceSupport leaders in areas such as leadership development, performance management, employee relations, compensation, and career developmentManage a team of HR Business Partners Provide management coaching to build leadership capabilities and to address employee issues; working with people managers and employees to address all types of employee relations issues ensuring a balanced perspectiveAssess the organization’s training needs and leverage our Learning & Development organization to meet those needsBuild employee-friendly processes and understanding the value of being a service organizationThe candidate will have the following personal characteristics:Comfortable navigating challenging forces in the dynamic consumer space and be comfortable in a fast-paced environment with significant change; employing only the necessary HR processes that enable the organization to innovate and growProven ability to understand the business strategy and translate into a people strategyDemonstrated ability to coach managers and leadersLaser focus on delivering business resultsAbility to influence and partner with all levels of the organization to achieve resultsStrong business and HR acumen, including strong problem solving skills, critical thinking, initiative and ability to navigate in times of ambiguityExcellent written and verbal communication skillsProven ability to lead and develop teamsEngagement ‘evangelist’ who understands how employee engagement directly influences business resultsExcellent active listening skills that encourage employees trustAbility to balance objective data and subjective observation (aka balancing ‘art and science’ to drive the best decision making)Proven ability to work with different types of employee populations (hourly, creative, etc.)Agile, responsive work style, with high attention to detailRole model for integrity; trusted to always do the right thingStrong team player, with the ability to work well both within and across an organizationGreat fit with the Shutterfly’s cultureCurrently a Director or above for an ecommerce/retail company (or related business) with 1000+ employees and revenues over $500M. 15+ years of progressively responsible experience in HR generalistBachelor’s Degree is required. Masters Degree or MBA strongly preferred along with SPHR or SHRM certification.Experience managing HR in California; able to travel, as appropriateThe candidate will also have clear functional HR competencies:Business Acumen: Ability to explore and understand the business processes, financial metrics and organizational systems and structuresOrganizational Design: Demonstrated ability to use a systems perspective to diagnose an organization and facilitate process improvements, including the right org design to meet the needs of the businessEmployee Effectiveness: Demonstrated ability to keep in touch with the workforce, anticipating employee reaction and impact of business decisionsEmployee Relations: Understanding of basic employment law and ability to effectively navigate difficult employee relations issuesPerformance Management: Knowledge of the process of performance management that includes defining success, establishing measurements, providing feedback and rewarding performanceWorkforce Planning: Demonstrated ability to identify the HR implications of the business plan and develop and implement solutions to meet identified needsTalent Management: Ability to effectively manage talent via core people processes such as succession planning; experience designing and implementing a Learning & Development strategy
