    Job Description

    This objective of this role is to act as the software lead for the integration of real-time software, user interface software and electrical hardware for the MTS test system controller platform. This role requires close collaboration with software developers and electrical hardware engineers, as well as product and program management. Strong new product development expertise is required to ensure successful performance and quality of the product. Qualified candidates will stand out as motivational thought leaders, are results-driven, and possess exceptional business acumen, coupled with strong working knowledge of hardware and software controller implementations.

    Major Areas Of Accountability
    • Technical leader in charge of the integration of the controller real-time and user interface software and hardware.
    • Responsible for the team's success with the development and testing of the controller product.
    • Interact with simulated software and prototype systems to identify and resolve system-level functional problems with the controller software and hardware.
    • Proactively coordinate efforts of cross-functional development teams to ensure that product and end-user requirements are met.
    • Deliver system integration demonstrations and milestones on schedule and within the budget for the program.
    • Discover and implement improvement opportunities throughout the new product development process.
    • Partner with product management, project management and platform teams to ensure that new products perform as required.
    • Understand, advocate, and contribute to the product vision focused on performance, capability, and ease-of-use.
      Qualifications

      Minimum Qualifications:
      • Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering or equivalent.
      • Minimum of 10 years of combined experience in the areas of software systems development, software integration, software architecture, systems engineering, mechatronics, or related fields.
      • Real-time software development experience in C or C++.
      • Familiar with Git source control.
      • Graphical user interface (GUI) experience using C#, .NET and/or Python and Qt software.
      • Skilled with scripting languages including Python or others.
      • Capacity to troubleshoot and debug complex software and mechatronics.
        Ability to quickly prioritize issues and concerns and be capable diving deep when required to deliver solutions within an accelerated timeframe.
        • Skilled with leading a cross-functional team and interfacing with managers and executives.
        • Demonstrated ability to identify software and hardware interdependences in a complex multi-platform environment.
        • Excellent communication skills in both verbal and written form.
        • Ability to actively listen, integrate input from diverse sources and successfully translate requirements into cohesive specifications.
        • Comfortable working in all phases of the software development lifecycle from planning to deployment and product support.
        • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
        • Experience with research and development phase gate process.
        • Knowledgeable in both Agile and Stage Gate development methodologies, culture and processes.
          Preferred Qualifications
          • Advanced degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering or equivalent
          • Ability to dissect large complex systems into sub-components, understanding each component's additive value to the overall solution and optimizing them both individually and collectively.
          • Strong experience with the entire controller development lifecycle including defining requirements, design, implementation, integration testing, development operations, system deployment and post-production support.
