community. Job Summary: The Catering Supervisor oversees catered
events from setup through breakdown, serving as the primary on-site
client contact and coordinating with internal teams to ensure
smooth execution. This role supports training and supervising
staff, ensures BEO compliance, manages room setup and signage,
maintains service standards, and delivers exceptional guest
experiences for events of all sizes. Responsible for supporting the
Company’s mission, vision, and values by providing an unparalleled
experience of fun and entertainment. Essential Duties and
Responsibilities: Lead by example. Responsible for maintaining a
high degree of hospitality, as well as a positive and professional
demeanor at all times. Creates high levels of morale, fosters
teamwork, inspires collaboration, delegates effectively and coaches
and mentors direct reports for growth opportunities. Responsible
for supervising and executing catered events such as large dinners
and receptions and small served events. This would include
executing an event from start to finish. Assist with the hiring,
training and developing of hourly team members to build cross
functional knowledge of operational processes, industry standards
and emerging technologies. Responsible for making the event
signage, hanging signage and take down signage as need, set up of
the area such as skirting tables, pipe and drape areas off etc.
Introduction to client day of event as primary contact and to
discuss any changes to setup and addresses last minute
issues/problems. This would include the menu, serving time of the
food and the bar arrangements. Works with all departments to ensure
event needs are fulfilled, i.e. Audio Visual, Faculties and Back of
House Operation. Responsible for ensuring catering staff has set-up
a banquet room or area according to Banquet Event form
specifications, including buffets, dining tables, audio visual
needs, etc. Enforce uniform standards are met daily and each event.
Responsible for ensuring all equipment is secure at the end of each
event/day and prepare and submit equipment repair orders as needed.
Accountable for ensuring catering staff has submitted requisition
forms at the end of each event to prep for the next day’s
activities. Ensure Catering Manager has received an event recap
form at the end of each event. Maintain prompt and courteous
customer service to all guests throughout the day. Responsible for
ensuring catering staff understands what the group(s) have
purchased as part of their package and it is fulfill during the
event, such as: escorting to winner’s circle/photo, drink tickets
and any audio needs. Must attend all Banquet Event Operations (BEO)
meetings on a weekly basis. Perform all other duties as assigned.
Supervision: Assisting Catering Manager is the daily supervision of
catering staff: Catering Attendant I, Catering Attendant II and
Greeters Required Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED, 1-2
years of supervisor experience and at least 5 years of experience
in Catering and Events or related field; OR any equivalent
combination of education and/or experience from which comparable
knowledge, skill and abilities have been achieved. Required to
pitch in with other departments based on business need. Must
possess excellent management, administrative, organizational and
leadership abilities. Requires excellent written and verbal
communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
Requires computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook,
Publisher and PowerPoint). Must be able to interact with guests,
coworkers, and management in a professional and courteous manner.
Skills for problem solving, analysis and effective decision making.
Must be a team player willing to work with all departments. Must be
able to make informed decisions, remain calm in stressful
situations, and focus on multiple tasks. Ability to
self-motivate/direct as well as motivate employees/team to achieve
department objectives. Must be detail oriented, have strong
organizational skills and the ability to multi-task. Must be able
to pass Canterbury Park’s pre-employment screening which includes a
criminal background check and verification of work history. Must be
able to attain a Minnesota Racing Commission (MRC) license.
Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience in the Entertainment
industry a plus. Working Conditions and Physical Requirements: The
