travel.Responsible for personnel and activities related to material
procurement and production planning in support of manufacturing
operations at the Eden Prairie facility.Responsible for the
performance and continuous improvement of systems and processes
associated with production planning, purchase requisition
development, PO placement, order management, supplier relationship,
and production order releases to optimize delivery cycle, on-time
delivery, material costs, inventory, and manufacturing
productivity.
- Provide leadership and direction for the production planning
function to ensure effective business management through compliance
with standards and procedures while meeting production schedules,
factory utilization targets, on time delivery requirements, cost,
inventory targets, and quality requirements. Works directly with
vendors and internal stakeholders to resolve critical parts
availability and quality issues. Monitors and reports status or
schedule change to affected parties. Ensures production plans
support overall portfolio and project requirements and coordinates
schedule adjustments with portfolio scheduling.
- Develops, trains, maintains and monitors Production Planning
and Purchasing processes and procedures. Ensures high quality
service, efficient operation, drives automation, and compliance
with established methods/standards. Initiates corrective action as
appropriate. Responsible for all production planning and purchasing
QMS documents, WIs and BPWIs and SOX compliance. Coordinates
process and policy changes with Portfolio Planning and Sourcing
leadership to ensure alignment across the enterprise.
- Implement lean daily management into the procurement and
planning functions to escalate and visually show issues and
challenges on day one. Address any buyer/planner personnel resource
capacity issues, improve communications, and sustain gains made
through continuous improvement initiatives.
- Coordinates individual production planning group to deliver
optimally sequenced work plans to Manufacturing Operations, aligned
to the Portfolio schedule for projects and customer orders.
Monitors overall MRP level production schedules, works with
production planners to align demand to labor capacity,
availability/lead time of materials and space to maximize
achievement of customer/project/order schedule requirements.
Implements metrics to track and improve planning performance,
identifies and implements continuous improvement
opportunities.
- Ensures effective monitoring of parts availability and ensures
planning works cross-functionally to expedite when necessary to
meet production schedules. Facilitates resolution of schedule
priority conflicts with cross functional stakeholders. Leads
corrective action when production schedules cannot be executed as
planned.
- Supports internal customers by providing information on
purchasing processes, products and suppliers, mitigates problems by
applying a broad view of situational implications and total cost
impacts and provides value in resolving supplier and purchased
product related issues
- Champions the manufacturing demand and capacity matching
process.
- Works with S&OP team and Portfolio Planning team to provide
accurate long-term resource forecasts
- Works with manufacturing leadership to balance demand against
capacity in short term
- Responsible for ongoing management and development of assigned
employees. Determines staffing and skill requirements to meet
business and department needs.Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree preferably in Business or Supply Chain, or A.A.
plus 4 yrs of applicable experience; plus
- 5+ years experience in production planning and/or purchasing in
a manufacturing environment; plus
- 3+ years management experience.
- APICS or ISM certification (or ability to attain within 18
months of accepting position).
- SAP experience strongly preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate and resolve issues with
suppliersPreferred Qualifications:
- 10+ years experience in production planning and/or purchasing
in a manufacturing environment; plus
