Job Description:
As the General Manager, you will be aligned with the Temp
Controlled Service Line and oversee a large number of capacity
employees located across five physical locations. You will plan,
manage, and coordinate capacity execution across multiple
geographies to achieve strategic business and financial objectives
that align to our enterprise vision.The ideal candidate for this
role will be positive, creative, decisive and have a desire for
driving results in a mode that is exciting, tangible, and ripe for
growth. Having a background in refrigerated transportation and or
produce would be welcomed but not
mandatory.Responsibilities:Strategic Business Planning and
Management
- Aligns teams performance objectives to North American Surface
Trans divisional and over CH Robinson strategic objectives
- Builds, manages, and leverages internal relationships with
commercial-facing GMs, capacity-facing GMs, and internal shared
services, to deliver a quality experience to our customers,
carriers and employees while driving results
- Drives improved business decision making by leveraging
analytics; identifies analytic gaps and engages organizational
resources to help improve team efficiency, productivity, and
financial results
- Responsible for annual workforce planning process, including
forecasting resource needs, and partnering with Talent Acquisition
to establish a diverse candidate pipeline. Responsibilities also
include participation in selection and onboarding of qualified and
diverse talent in our strategic hiring locations
- Leverages strong knowledge of industry trends related to modes,
products, services, and costing to guide strategic execution and
acts as a subject matter expert in communicating market conditions
with various internal & external stakeholders
- Actively leads and/or participates in various industry,
community, and campus activities to enhance the C.H. Robinson
brandGeneral Management
- Oversees and adheres to workplace conduct, risk management and
compliance practices required within the organization
- Ensures self and team acts with the highest ethical standards
by setting and communicating expectations, adhering to internal
trading policies to increase quality, service, and velocity
- Cascades communications to employees across multiple locations
as appropriate, including information on organizational or
divisional initiatives, announcements, process changes, etc.Talent
Management
- Manages the performance and development of direct and indirect
reports through both formal and informal performance management,
coaching and feedback, mentoring and training
- Manages the teams reward and recognition strategies, including
appropriate and consistent compensation administration
- Reviews employee engagement measures and implements action
plans to improve culture, employee engagement and team
collaborationBusiness Growth and Development
- Accountable for implementing and reviewing carrier engagement
strategies
- Partners with commercial-facing teams and Global Account
Centers to create account specific capacity strategies, establish
new service delivery models, enhance high level client
relationships, and ensure quality execution
- Develops and maintains a broad understanding of C.H. Robinsons
commercial and carrier service offerings, intelligence resources
and industry-leading technologies and leverages those appropriately
to optimize client solutionsFinancial Management
- Accountable for the financial performance of the aligned
capacity team as measured by the P&L
- Helps set overall center financial, volume and quality targets
and frequently communicates progress to the team
- Reviews daily, monthly, quarterly reports and analytics to
monitor team performance (i.e. quality, volume, employee
productivity, carrier portfolio growth, customer, and carrier
satisfaction, etc.) and adjusts business processes, strategy, and
resources accordingly
- Engages internal service providers (i.e. after hours,
operations, etc.) to conduct cost-benefit analysis, define service
delivery standards and refine the appropriate escalation channels
to deliver a quality customer, carrier, and employee
experience.Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years people leadership experience
- Experience in supply chain and/or transportation industry
- Up to 25% travel
- High School Diploma or GEDPreferred Qualifications:
- B.A. or B.S. from an accredited college or university
- Knowledge of C.H. Robinsons carrier or customer-facing
business
- Experience managing financials for a sizable business
segment
- Experience with refrigerated transportation or produce
sourcing
- Proficiency presenting to both internal and external
audiences
- Demonstrated negotiation, collaboration, and influencing
skills
