Job Description:
Purpose:
The Manager, Strategic Sourcing is responsible for the management
of strategic procurement initiatives across UNFI and its
subsidiaries with leading edge suppliers. This role will employ
sound risk management strategies, deliver competitive total cost
and drive continuous improvement of material quality and
operational efficiency. The portfolio of indirect sourcing
categories may include consulting services, marketing services, IT
and telecommunication equipment, systems, and services, financial
systems and services, human resource systems and services, office
supplies, equipment, and services, and other indirect categories of
goods and services. The Manager of Indirect Procurement will manage
a team to manage the sourcing strategy for each category as
appropriate. This will include: the establishment of long-term
agreements where feasible to reduce transactional work and obtain
optimal quality, service, price, and other terms; partner with
regional programs and offices to drive procurement through the
supply chain team; and eliminate unmanaged spend. The development
of key internal and external customer relationships is an integral
function of this position.
Job Responsibilities:
- Participate in the establishment of the collective Indirect
Category savings target annually.
- Execute category management strategies and sourcing projects to
continuously drive savings & value to meet the annual target.
- Build credibility rapidly, and effectively work with functional
and business groups as a trusted advisor to determine desired
product/service specifications (with rationalization if applicable)
and projected demand when making recommended sourcing action
plans.
- Lead the Sourcing Coordinators to analyze trends and market
conditions, monitor internal spending patterns, develop sourcing
strategies for spend that supports business goals, and execute the
Strategic Sourcing process to obtain optimal, consistent business
results.
- Manage and develop vendors to drive value and innovation for
the Company where applicable.
- Exercise strong business partnering skills to build and sustain
key stakeholder relationship and bring Strategic Sourcing upstream
to business planning and spend decision cycles.
- Establish team capacity tracking and work allocation mechanism
to support ad-hoc sourcing projects.
- Lead sourcing initiatives for the portfolio of indirect
categories.
- Lead and manage the RFX, RFP process.
- Establish and maintain supplier relationships and facilitate
periodic business reviews to continually identify process
improvements and cost reduction opportunities.
- Prepare analyses of spend data, category supplier bases, and
cost models.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Education/ Certifications: (Required & Preferred)
- Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field is
required
- An advanced degree in Business, Supply Chain Management is
preferred
Experience:
- 5+ years of category management or purchasing experience
(indirect sourcing a plus) and direct people management
- Experience with e-sourcing/procurement related
technologies.
- Deep experience in strategic supplier negotiations
- System Implementation Preferred
Knowledge:
- Demonstrated analytical ability to analyze complex data sets to
include spend analytics and pricing proposals to formulate
strategic plans
- Significant expertise in contract negotiation and supplier
relationship management
- Ability to provide fact-based strategy and sourcing
recommendations
- Proven ability to partner across organizational departments
toward decision consensus and acceptance.
- Experienced user of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and ERPs
Skills/ Abilities:
- Ability to establish supplier specifications in conjunction
with subject experts, measure and drive conformance to
specifications, and manage internal and supplier relationships to
achieve desired results
- Excellent problem solving, communication, and influencing
skills within a matrix environment
- Ability to interface with senior leadership and navigate
through organizational boundaries and proactively manage change
within an organization
- Strong consultative communications and cross-functional
collaboration skills; builds relationships easily, both internally
and externally
- Team player and ability to influence without authority a
must
- Proven ability to set expectations, manage to deadlines and
hold individuals and teams accountable to critical
deliverables
- Proven track record of leading teams to accomplish successful,
measurable business outcome
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including
presentation skills (MS PowerPoint)
- Proven ability to staff, develop and lead a team; strong
developer of talent
- Decision making to identify and understand situations; identify
opportunities to proactively resolve

Compensation
- Pay Range: $80,000 - 149,500 Annually ($38.46 - 71.88
Hourly)
- Other Compensation: Bonus Eligible
