The Product Manager, Strategic Partnerships & Products is primarily responsible for Optum Health s 1) Product Taxonomy which organizes the Optum product portfolio into a common structure with standard definitions to consistently represent our product portfolio for internal business practices and 2) Product Availability List which includes the products available for sale with the product subject matter expert contact, default rate type, rate period and pricing.

This role has a versatile skillset and leadership style that will enable partnership across business teams to advance how we manage our product data. Success will require candidates to have a strong bias toward fact-based decision making and strategic thinking. Individuals in this role will work with internal cross functional teams to determine product data future direction and will need to lead through influence. Never content with "good enough," you also need the perseverance to constantly enhance, track performance and improve the product data in a highly matrixed environment. Primary Responsibilities:

Product: Successful candidates will serve as the subject matter expert overseeing Optum Health s product taxonomy, product availability lists, product record change processes as well as lead new and existing product data initiatives that include documentation of requirements, establishing standard processes and procedures to manage product data throughout the product lifecycle. They will lead the efforts of cross-functional teams and will need to demonstrate the ability to:

Support product-level business plans including the development of processes to ensure integrity of product information maintained by the accountable owners, all system interfaces are in sync with the corporate taxonomy and governance, e.g., Product Information Management System, Salesforce, general ledger, billing systems, implementation systems, marketing, contract databases and all new entries and updates of product information are accurately represented in key source systems.

Translate taxonomy vision for products & capabilities into operational production by decomposing the expected internal stakeholder benefits into features that will deliver intended benefits. Works with cross functional teams to translate requirements into concrete operational processes and measurement plans. Ensures all operational elements of the taxonomy are well understood and designed to meet specifications. Documents taxonomy operations from vision to detailed executional expectations in a manner that facilitates rapid implementation and launch. Continually works to improve, standardize, and refine processes across the organization sharing best practices, creating commonality of definitions, and facilitating custom modifications.

Steward Product Life Cycle Management (PLCM) and demonstrate an overall understanding of the Optum Health Accelerate process and artifacts, how taxonomy fits within PLCM and when needed, lean in to support the Accelerate Process/Team.

Project Management: This role will be required to manage 1 - 2 projects at a time with only minimal project/program support. The role is a good fit for candidates who can:

Manage and control project timelines and resources identifying project duration, effort and key risks and dependencies. Ensures detailed project plans are in place for all efforts and that project budgets are established and appropriately managed. Ensures project schedules are comprehensive and realistic and that all tasks are appropriately tracked.

General: Contributes meaningfully to the overall business and shows personal leadership skills needed to contribute in a matrixed corporate environment.

Work independently accomplishing tasks and driving work with little to no supervision or direction. Focuses effort on tasks that will drive the most value for the company.

Work well with ambiguity and takes concrete steps to add value even when the objective is not well articulated. Establishes hypotheses and works to validate and communicate those hypotheses with peers and supervisors to quickly redirect effort to add the most value.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree (business, marketing, or related field) or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of marketing and product and/or project management or development
  • 4+ years of total work experience in healthcare, managed care & insurance industry
  • Proven track record of operating and navigating in a highly complex matrixed environment
  • Demonstrable experience managing stakeholder relationships

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • MBA or MPH
    • Knowledge (or ability to learn quickly) of commercial health insurance, Medicare / Medicaid, and regulatory landscape
    • Demonstrated analytical acumen including understanding of financial management
    • Experience with:
      • Taxonomies, product hierarchies, product attributes and master data management
      • Salesforce or similar Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform
      • Designing, modifying & building SharePoint Classic & Modern experiences
      • Data quality and integrity
      • Understanding of product lifecycles, product relational hierarchies, portfolio management, and data/system integration processes

        All Telecommuters will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group s Telecommuter Policy.

        Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary/hourly range for Colorado residents is $82,100 to $146,900. The salary/hourly range for Connecticut/Nevada residents is $90,500 to $161,600. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
