The Provider Consulting Practice of Optum consults with Provider organizations, ACO's, and many other risk-based organizations on financial risk management initiatives ranging from fee-for-service to value-based care. As the only provider focused consulting practice you will be involved in contributing to the leading edge thought leadership for providers' ever-changing roles in our healthcare industry. As a Senior Director, you will lead business development strategy, capture, and leadership over projects including, but not limited to, provider growth strategies, financial feasibility analyses, financial projection contract analyses, and data-driven opportunity analyses. You will leverage your personal network and that of the Optum enterprise to identify new clients and expand existing client business in the Provider market and other healthcare markets toward collaborative business development targets. You'll work with an elite provider-focused actuarial team to along with our clinical and strategy counterparts to interpret the intersection of actuarial modeling, population health management and customer strategic growth initiatives. This role pursues and fosters strong, ongoing client relationships based on managing high value customer initiatives and provides the opportunity to provide continuous coaching, direction, feedback and development for other consultants. Primary Responsibilities: Sales / Growth Leadership * Leverage and collaborate with Optum actuarial and other personnel as appropriate in the pursuit of new business growth opportunities * Achieve new business growth consistent with organization targets and individual / team quotas * Develop proposals and statements of work for client engagements. Lead the RFI, RFP and sales process * Lead the development and closure of major client engagements involving cross Optum solutions * Complete financial analysis and develop client business case for proposed solutions * Assist in building consulting marketing and sales collateral * Obtain high client satisfaction scores * Identify and develop consulting offerings, products and services solutions that align with key market needs and or client initiatives Client Engagement/Delivery * Perform a billable role to clients in oversight of large scale projects / programs * Large scale programs are defined as high cost, high complexity and / or high risk * Serve in an advisory role to clients on business strategy, operational effectiveness and healthcare best practices * Ensure utilization rate and billable revenues are attained annually * Provide strategic input to the development of program roadmap and timelines * Create a team oriented work climate that enables professional development and encourages creative solutions and strategies * Support the management of resources within programs * Ensure that quality assurance methods are implemented within the program * Develop and manage provider focused solutions for internal and external customers * Develop subject matter expertise in current and emerging value-based care models * Evaluate population health programs * Design and develop processes for reporting and analytics to meet customer objectives * Perform financial projections and pro-formas for value based care contracts * Develop provider distribution compensation models * Advise clients on value based care contracts and term definitions * Perform financial feasibility analyses You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in Required Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree * 10+ years of Healthcare Actuarial experience * ASA or FSA Actuarial Credential * Experience leading the analytics of multiple projects and / or initiatives simultaneously * Experience overseeing direct reports OR guiding the analytics of staff on assigned projects * Experience presenting and / or consulting with internal staff, internal / external clients, and senior leadership * Employees are required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or a similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener prior to entering the work site each day, in order to keep our work sites safe.
