The manufacturing project engineer is responsible for planning,
coordinating, and managing capital manufacturing projects; from
budgeting and estimating through design, project management and
completion. The manufacturing project engineer is also responsible
for ensuring projects are completed on time and within budgetary
constraints. This role will be responsible for overseeing,
coordinating, and supervising projects from the handoff to the
installation phase, ensuring the final acceptance by operations.
This role involves vigilant monitoring and control of schedules,
along with efficient management of costs (including labor and
materials) to successfully meet on-time and on-budget goals.
Additionally, the Project Engineer offers leadership and technical
direction to the project team throughout the entire process. Major
Responsibilities
--- Review all specifications and drawings.
--- Attend pre-bid meetings to determine the scope of work, time
period of work necessary for the project, and required contents of
estimate.
--- Confer with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to negotiate
and utilize local expertise to estimate costs.
--- Solicit material and subcontractor quotations.
--- Prepare professionally detailed proposals.
--- Create project plans from estimates, and define tasks,
schedules, and necessary personnel.
--- Maintain equipment and facility documentation/drawings.
--- Communicate with Operations teams and vendors regarding
equipment issues and capital projects.
--- Serve as the primary point of contact for contractors and
vendors throughout the entire planning, engineering, and building
process, from kick-off to Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site
Acceptance Testing (SAT).
--- Create a comprehensive timeline for project milestones and
relevant documents, and meticulously manage project costs.
--- Efficiently coordinate resources, schedules, and deliverables
across various departments and functional areas, demonstrating
leadership in cross-functional teams comprising Engineering,
Manufacturing, Assembly, Materials, Sales, etc.
--- Manage the quotation and implementation of change orders,
collaborating with the project team and department managers to
develop quotes.
--- Conduct post-project reviews and ensure a formal handoff upon
project completion.
--- Actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
within processes.
--- Follow established programs, policies and practices to produce
safe, quality parts that meet regulatory and company
requirements.
--- Support the development, implementation, maintenance, and
ongoing improvement of the Safety Systems.
--- Ability to cooperate, work effectively and professionally, with
all levels of individuals in the organization.
--- Acquire additional certifications and credentials as required
for work or career development.
--- Maintain a clean, organized work area.
--- Comply with all safety, DOT, HAZMAT and environmental policies
and procedures.
--- Ability to work at the Bloomington facility.
--- Work on/participate in special projects as needed or assigned
