Callas Montessori, a primary charter school start-up, planning to open in the fall of 2020, serving children ages 3-6, will promote a culturally diverse, purposeful and responsive environment. Childrens natural tendencies for curiosity and exploration will be supported through learning in a compassionate and respectful environment. Callas Montessori will encourage collaboration with parents and caregivers in conjunction with the larger community. Our motto is House of Children and Families. Callas Montessori will primarily serve the West African Immigrant communities in the Northwest Minneapolis metropolitan area. We are looking for a Montessori certified (MACTE accredited institution) candidate who is excited to co-lead a classroom that focuses on the West African Immigrant community of the Northwest Minneapolis Metro area. This candidate will draw their energy from building connections and learning from the community the school will serve. Activating Wildflower's Principle of Seamless Learning Communities, this teacher-leader will work in partnership with the founding teacher leader to blur the lines between school and home, will be comfortable in space and time with the communities this school will serve, and will be committed to helping Dr. Montessori's original vision of a community-focused, social justice education to life. One of the first tasks this person will take on is identifying roles and responsibilities in partnership with their co-teacher leader. Anticipated qualities include: The ability to collaborate with diverse populations Experience in guiding children of all backgrounds Good communication skills; ability to effectively communicate with both parents, caregivers and children. Organized, ability to provide structure and routine in a class setting Comfort with financial management and budgeting, a plus Key Responsibilities: Prepare and maintain the learning environment according to the Montessori training and principles. Guide each child to reach their best, maximum potential using Montessori methods and principles Shared responsibility for administrative duties of the classroom, defined and refined on an ongoing basis in partnership with the co-teacher leader Qualifications: MACTE Montessori primary certification (required) 1 year+ experience as Children's House Guide preferred Classroom management abilities and strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to work collaboratively as a partner with an entrepreneurial team to create a conducive learning environment. Experience: Montessori: 3 years (Preferred) Salary is dependent upon qualifications. Position will be open until filled. Position start date: Spring 2020.
