55106 PURPOSE OF POSITION: To partner with individuals, families,
and service resources in the community to determine the needs of
single mothers, families, and children in the community.
Responsible for delivering programs and strategies to address the
identified needs. Responsible for coordinating, planning and
implementing workshops and other events pertaining to mothers,
families, and the Jump Start to the New You Program. The Jump Start
program has historically served up to four cohorts at a time during
the academic year with a curriculum built around our four pillars
and a summer cohort around financial growth. The coordinator is NOT
meant to be an expert or facilitator in all topics taught, but
rather the bridge to bringing in key speakers to help program
participants on their journey. In addition to the classes, the
Coordinator will also plan three events that are milestones in the
programming year, and recruit new participants. We are seeking an
individual who is comfortable with building connections, recruiting
new participants, change management, and supporting Family Values
For Life participants as they walk in their journey to break old
cycles and become the New Them! Schedule: Flexible based on program
needs, activity, and season. During program season and events,
hours will vary based on program and event needs. Must be flexible
to accommodate the needs of the organization during peak seasons,
events, and for programmatic activities. Core Duties and
Responsibilities 65% Program/Event Coordination and Delivery
Coordinate, and implement delivery, and evaluation of Jump Start
programs and events, including evaluating and supporting the
development of curriculum to reflect current and future needs of
the org and participants Recruit, coordinate, and schedule
speakers/facilitators for Jump Start Program, including building
and maintaining positive relationships with various partners and
facilitators Ensure the daily operation of Jump Start programs Work
in partnership with community organizations to identify and report
trends and priorities for families in the community Determine the
gaps in service delivery and recommends strategies for improvement
Ensure programs and services are effective in meeting the needs of
all families, and adhere to the organizational objectives of Family
Values For Life Work collaboratively with other program staff at
Family Values For Life Develop and maintain an awareness of Jump
Start services and programs in the community Work with community
partners when establishing and maintaining programs for their sites
Ensure implementation of Family Values For Life policies and
procedures in all work processes 20% Administrative and Financial
Management of the Program Participate in developing and maintaining
the budget for programs and events in consultation with the
Executive Director and/or Operations Manager Monitor and manage the
program expenditures Participate in the application for
funding/grants in cooperation with the Executive Director,
Operations Manager, and grant writer Ensure all program and event
data is recorded accurately and kept up to date in our online
software (Oasis) for reporting purposes Submit statistics and
program reports for funding/grants 5% Volunteer Management: Recruit
and screen volunteers for Jump Start programs and events Train
volunteers for work in Jump Start programming and events Provide
oversight of volunteers working in Jumps Start programs 5%
Supervision of Program facilitators and interns Work with manager
to create job descriptions for Jump Start programming staff
Interview and train new hires for work in Jump Start programming
and events Plan and manage program staff and workflow Manage
schedule and process time records/cards Evaluate performance and
establish work goals 5% Other duties as assigned Education and
Experience: Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience in related
field OR 2 years of program coordinating related experience and
sensitivity in working with individuals, families and youth
required. Cultural knowledge of the African American community
required. Must possess a valid MN Drivers License and reliable
transportation. Must submit to a Criminal Background Study.
Preferred Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communications
skills. Excellent meeting facilitation skills, including the
ability to effectively present information to a wide variety of
audiences. Strong project planning and organizational competency.
Computer literacy, including knowledge of basic software
applications, internet and email, experience with Google Suite
products preferred and a willingness to develop additional skills
as needed. Cultural competence and experience in working with
diverse communities. Ability to prioritize workload. Ability to
work independently as well as with a team. Ability to work under
stress. Ability to meet deadlines. Ability to work independently
with little supervision. Deep commitment to/experience with
community organizing, racial equity, and cultural responsiveness.
Work Environment/Physical Demands/Schedule While performing the
duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit
or stand for extended periods. The employee must occasionally lift
and/or move items weighing up to 50 pounds. Reasonable

the work environment is usually moderate. This position is required
to work some evenings and occasional weekends
